Iranian-Armenian feature ‘Yeva’, directed by Anahid Abad, has been set to attend the International Film Festival “Love is Folly” in Bulgaria.
To be screened at the 27th edition of the Bulgarian festival, ‘Yeva’ is a war-themed story about a young woman who is forced to flee Yerevan with her daughter Nareh. She is suspected of murdering her husband.
The flick represented Armenia at the 90th edition of the Academy Awards.
The film has attended various global festivals and managed to grab several awards, including the best feature film at the 2018 Arpa International Film Festival in the US, the best film award at the 14th Rolan - International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Armenia, the best screenplay award at the 15th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival in Armenia, and the audience award at the 12th Pomegranate Film Festival in Canada.
In March 2019, ‘Yeva’ won the Grand Prix at the Socially Relevant Film Festival in the US.
Earlier reports said that the Iranian feature film ‘Dayan’ will also be featured at the Love is Folly.
The 27th edition of the International Film Festival “Love is Folly” will take place on August 23-September 1, 2019.
